The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, has called on stakeholders in Anambra North Senatorial District to deepen collaboration with the Police and other security agencies to enhance public safety and sustain peace across the state.
CP Nnanna made the call on August 13 during a security stakeholders’ engagement held at the Umueri Civic Centre as part of his ongoing consultations across Anambra’s three senatorial districts.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the engagement was aimed at strengthening community-based policing, intelligence sharing and collective efforts toward preventing crime and addressing emerging security challenges.
The Commissioner of Police stressed that effective policing requires the active participation of the wider community, noting that traditional rulers, community leaders, religious institutions, youths, women and other stakeholders have important roles to play in maintaining security. He urged stakeholders to sustain open communication with the Police and promptly report credible information concerning suspicious persons, activities and emerging threats within their communities.

As part of measures to improve direct communication and intelligence gathering, CP Nnanna introduced a dedicated WhatsApp line, 09169531886, which is attached directly to him for members of the public to send credible security information and messages. He assured the public that information received through the channel would be treated with utmost confidentiality and professionally handled in accordance with the law.

The Police Commissioner also paid courtesy visits to the Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, His Majesty, Igwe Chidubem Iweka; the Chairman of the Anambra East Local Government Area Council of Traditional Rulers, Hon. Sir Ifeanyi Chinweze; and His Royal Majesty, Igwe Bennett Izuchukwu Emeka, who hosted the stakeholders at his palace.

The meetings provided an avenue for the Police leadership and traditional institutions to deliberate on prevailing security challenges and explore practical approaches to strengthening community policing and security across Anambra North.
CP Nnanna commended the traditional institution and other stakeholders for their continued support and partnership with the Police. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing, proactive crime prevention, rapid response, accountability and respect for the rights of citizens.

Those in attendance included the Chairman of Onitsha North Local Government Area, Hon. Nweze Tony Nwora; HRM Igwe Benjamin Okeji, traditional ruler of Omasi and Chairman of the Anambra North Traditional Rulers Council as well as Deputy Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council; other traditional rulers; President-Generals, women leaders, members of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), and other relevant stakeholders.
