Women traders and young entrepreneurs in Onitsha have received training on digital tools to improve business visibility, customer engagement and access to electronic payment platforms.

The training, held on Sept. 9, at Ime Obi, Awka Road, Onitsha, focused on equipping women traders with practical skills to use mobile technology in promoting and managing their businesses.

The programme was organised by the Women Empowerment Project Committee of the Onitsha Leadership and Entrepreneurship Centre, in collaboration with the Anambra Business Investment Company (ABIC) and the NYSC ICT, Editorial and Publicity CDS Group.

Participants were trained on creating and managing business pages on Facebook and Instagram, using artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT for content creation, and applying hashtags to improve the visibility and reach of their businesses.

They were also introduced to digital payment platforms, including OPay, and taught how mobile technology could facilitate business transactions and improve customer convenience.

The initiative was funded by Otu Odu Onitsha Europe (POOOE), with the organisers saying the training was aimed at promoting digital literacy, entrepreneurship and economic empowerment among women traders and young business owners.

The organisers said the practical sessions would enable participants to apply the skills acquired in areas such as digital marketing, customer engagement and electronic transactions.

They said the initiative formed part of efforts to equip traders with relevant digital skills to adapt to changing business practices, promote their products and services, and reach wider markets.
