The Police-led Joint Security Team, comprising the Army’s 302 Artillery Regiment, Navy’s Naval Command, Department of State Security, and Anambra State Vigilante have successfully dismantled a criminal camp at Ogbunka. This operation was made possible by intelligence gathered over time.

A six-hour gun battle ensued between the Joint Security Team and armed criminals, with the team’s superior firepower forcing the hoodlums to retreat. During the operation, explosives used as shields by the criminals were diffused. The team also recovered relief materials, including pots, foodstuffs, and parts of suspected stolen vehicles. Some criminals escaped with bullet injuries. The operatives have secured the area to prevent further incidents and apprehend fleeing suspects.

According to a press statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, “the Anambra State Police Command assures on behalf of other security agencies that the confidence reposed on her by Ndi Anambra and residents alike for the protection of lives and properties is not taken for granted. The joint security operation is a testament to the commitment of the security agencies to deny unrepentant criminals the space to commit havoc in the state. The operatives will continue to sustain security dominance in the area to address any untoward situation that may arise and to possibly arrest the fleeing suspects.”
