The Mayor, Onitsha South Local Government Area, Anambra State, Hon Chief Emeka Orji, has sent a warmth Easter greeting to the good people of the area, praying for their Upliftment and that of Governor Chukwuma Soludo and family, to give him more wisdom, health, protection and divine direction to lead the state according to God’s will.
Orji while thanking God for a day like this, said that it was a highly acknowledged season in the calendar of the church, noting that Christ’s death and resurrection has brought all round blessings unto our mankind.
He admonished christians to be closer to God even as he appealed to them not to go back to their sinful lives after 40 days of fasting, praying and alms-giving that symbolize 40 days of period of Lent, rather live life of holiness, righteousness, selflessness, humility, love, steadfastness and uprightness.
The Mayor emphasized that loving one another is the utmost and the greatest of all God’s commandments, stressing the need for love, no matter any circumstance because it was love for mankind that led to the death of Jesus Christ on the cross.
“It is very important to visit the sick in the hospital, the prisoners, the less privileged and others, to show them that they are recognized in the society, care for them and extend some gifts no matter how little.
“I charged my people to be law abiding, be careful throughout this season and beyond so that none of us shall be found wanton, pray God to heal the sick among us, provide for us, bless our endeavours through Christ our Lord, Amen.
“Lastly, as the election nears, let us support our governor in all his endeavours for the advancement of our dear state, Anambra,” he pleaded.
