The Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation has officially kicked off the 2026 budget defence and bilateral discussions with Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and other government parastatals.

Declaring the session open, the Chairman of the Committee, Sir Ejike Okechukwu, said that the exercise is designed to strengthen transparency, enhance credibility, and ensure that all sectoral proposals align with the strategic priorities of the 2026 fiscal plan.

The defence process commenced with presentations from the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Ministry of Finance, State Bureau of Statistics, and several other key agencies. Representatives of the various bodies defended their submissions and responded to probing questions from lawmakers.

The committee will continue the exercise daily, as it works to meticulously review revenue projections, expenditure frameworks, and performance indicators ahead of the 2026 budget approval.
