The Anambra State ICT Agency, has unveiled bold plans to scale up digital transmission across the state in 2026, building on ongoing reforms that have already digitized more than 40 government services for public use.
The Managing Director of the Agency, Mr. Fred Agbata, said this during the agency’s 2026 budget defence before the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation at the Anambra State House of Assembly complex, Awka.
Mr. Agbata highlighted that the state’s civil service has undergone a remarkable transformation driven by high-speed broadband access and the provision of laptops, computers, printers, and other digital tools—marking a decisive end to the era when civil servants depended on business centres to execute official duties.
He added that the House of Assembly and several state institutions are now enjoying improved connectivity, while 22 smart schools are also receiving significant upgrades.
He further said that prior to the Soludo’s administration, ministries operated with barely four hundred functional devices. Today, most MDAs are fully equipped for seamless digital operations.
According to him, the agency is poised to consolidate these gains in 2026, with renewed focus on youth empowerment and the completion of the Solution Innovation District, a flagship hub for digital creativity and skills development.
