‎The Organised Labour in Anambra State has paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, enjoining her to prioritise the interests of Anambra State in the discharge of her duties.
‎
‎Led by the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Anambra State Council, Comrade Humphrey Emeka Nwafor, and the Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Chris Ogbonna, the leadership of Organised Labour stated that the unions remain committed exclusively to initiatives that advance the growth, development, and progress of Anambra State.
‎
‎Comrade Nwafor urged the new SSG to accord premium attention to the welfare of Anambra workers, noting that her office interfaces directly with Organised Labour on all matters. He explained that the visit was intended to foster familiarity between her office and the leadership of Organised Labour, comprising the State Administrative Councils (SAC) of the NLC and TUC.
‎
‎He further congratulated Mrs. Nnake on her historic appointment as the first female SSG in the State, observing that her youthfulness warrants collective support and solidarity to ensure her success.
‎
‎While assuring her of the maximum cooperation of Organised Labour, Comrade Chris Ogbonna affirmed that labour leaders would not fail in their obligations. He, however, emphasised that the SSG has a responsibility to ensure that workers’ welfare schemes are not disregarded for administrative convenience.
‎
‎In her remarks, the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, expressed appreciation to Organised Labour for the courtesy visit and conveyed her readiness to work harmoniously with labour leaders for the good of the State, in alignment with the transformative leadership of her principal, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo.
