The Chairman of the Civil Liberties Organization (CLO), Anambra State Branch, Evan. Vincent Ezekwueme, has called on traders to uphold integrity and accountability in both their personal lives and business dealings, reminding them that everyone will one day give an account of their stewardship before God.
Evan. Ezekwueme made the call during the monthly prayer meeting of the Sokoto Road Traders Association at the Main Market, Onitsha, where he spoke on the importance of righteous living, salvation, and ethical conduct as indispensable values for traders and members of society.
Describing death as an inevitable reality, he urged participants to live in readiness by remaining faithful to God and embracing a life of holiness. He also encouraged Christians to reflect the character of Christ through love, humility, forgiveness, and compassion while shunning pride, greed, immorality, hatred, and dishonest business practices that could destroy both reputation and eternal destiny.
The CLO chairman further highlighted what he described as the “Seven D’s to Salvation”- Desire, Decision, Determination, Detachment, Devotion, Dedication, and Destination. He urged traders to pursue honest means of livelihood, remain steadfast in their faith, and place righteousness above material gain.
He commended the chairman of the Sokoto Road Traders Association, Hon. Emeka Mbachu, for his consistent participation in the association’s monthly prayer meetings, describing his dedication as a demonstration of exemplary leadership capable of inspiring traders to embrace integrity and accountability.
In his remarks, Hon. Mbachu expressed gratitude to the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for the reconstruction of the Main Market, describing the project as timely and beneficial to traders.
He also sympathised with families affected by recent flooding and urged traders to maintain proper environmental sanitation within the market to help prevent future incidents.
Hon. Mbachu used the opportunity to encourage all eligible Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) and participate actively in the electoral process. Displaying his own PVC, he stressed that responsible voting remains the surest way to elect credible, accountable, and people-oriented leaders.
