The President of the Women’s Ministry, Anglican Diocese on the Niger, and wife of the Bishop, Dr. Mrs. Elsie N. Nwokolo, has called on christians to cultivate the fear of God, describing it as the foundation of true wisdom.
Dr. Mrs. Nwokolo made the call while delivering her presidential address at the 2026 Diocesan Women’s Conference held at Immanuel Church, Inland Town, Onitsha.
The conference, which commenced on July 9, brought together women from across the diocese for spiritual renewal, fellowship and christian growth.
Speaking on the theme, “The Fear of God Is the Beginning of Wisdom,” Dr. Mrs. Nwokolo explained that genuine wisdom begins with reverence for God, noting that those who fear God are guided by His word and are better equipped to make righteous decisions.
She urged christian women to demonstrate godly character in their homes, workplaces, churches and communities, emphasizing that the fear of God should be reflected in their daily conduct and relationships.
Dr. Mrs. Nwokolo highlighted the important role of women in nurturing future generations, encouraging teachers to shape young minds with sound moral and christian values, while mothers and grandmothers should mentor children and young people in the ways of the Lord.
She called on participants to remain steadfast in their faith, uphold biblical principles and serve as worthy ambassadors of Christ.
According to her, a life anchored in the fear of God promotes wisdom, peace, integrity and positive transformation in society.
The conference continues with Bible teachings, prayer sessions and other activities aimed at strengthening the spiritual lives of women across the diocese.
