The 2026 Women’s Conference of the Diocese on the Niger concluded on July 12 with a thanksgiving service at Immanuel Anglican Church, Onitsha, where the Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. Dr. Owen Chiedozie Nwokolo, called on christians to live lives guided by wisdom rooted in God’s love, reverence and obedience.
The service marked the close of the conference, which was themed “The Fear of the Lord is the Beginning of Wisdom” (Proverbs 9:10). It featured a sermon titled “Walking in Wisdom through Holy Love and Reverent Fear,” based on Hosea 11:1–9 and 1 John 2:8–17.
In his sermon, Bishop Nwokolo explained that true wisdom is not measured by knowledge or human intelligence, but by a genuine relationship with God.

“True wisdom comes from remembering God’s unfailing love. When our gratitude dies, wisdom dies too. Wisdom chooses obedience and turns away from rebellion,” he said.
The bishop urged christians to uphold godly character and remain faithful stewards in their homes, workplaces and the church, warning against using God’s grace as a justification for deliberate sin, encouraging believers to demonstrate their faith through righteous living.
He urged women to build their families with wisdom, love and patience, cautioning against attitudes capable of undermining marriages and family unity.

Bishop Nwokolo prayed against forces working against peace and progress in christian homes, calling on believers to reject hatred, envy, jealousy and disunity.
According to him, forgiveness, reconciliation and love are the true marks of those who walk in God’s wisdom and are essential for building peaceful families and harmonious communities.
The conference concluded with the cutting of the thanksgiving cake and the presentation of donations by individuals, organisations and well-wishers in support of ongoing projects of the Diocesan Women’s Ministry.
The event brought to a successful close several days of spiritual teachings, fellowship and renewed commitment to christian living among women across the Diocese on the Niger.
