FirstPower Electricity Distribution Company Ltd. on Aug. 8 held a strategic retreat for its management, commercial and technical staff to review performance and develop strategies to improve electricity supply and customer service across Anambra.
The retreat, held at the FirstPower Auditorium, Awka, brought together the management team, Heads of Departments, Regional Managers and other key personnel to review operational challenges and identify areas requiring improvement.
Declaring the retreat open, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Okechukwu Okafor, said the gathering was necessary to review the company’s operations amid changes in the electricity sector and increasing customer demands for improved service.

Okafor acknowledged that the decline in available energy earlier in the year affected supply to homes and businesses, including customers who were willing to pay but could not access adequate electricity. He, however, said supply had gradually improved in recent months.
He said the company was intensifying engagements with generation partners to secure additional energy through bilateral and embedded power arrangements, with a view to increasing available power and improving supply reliability.
The MD also introduced the pioneer Regional Managers of the newly created regional offices, Mr. Onyebuchi Nwokafor for Region One and Engr. Everistus Obetta for Region Two, charging them to identify customer challenges and ensure prompt escalation and resolution of complaints.
The Chief Commercial Officer, Dr. Nnenna Obi, led performance presentations, while the Chief Technical Officer, Engr. Dr. Emeka Egbujor, and other Heads of Departments reviewed operational gaps and proposed measures to improve service delivery across the company’s 10 districts.
Okafor urged staff to bring forward fresh ideas and take ownership of the company’s transformation, stressing the need to understand customers’ concerns and respond to them promptly. In a vote of thanks, Nwokafor appreciated management for the retreat and assured that its resolutions would be translated into action.
FirstPower said it remained committed to improving service delivery to electricity consumers in Anambra despite prevailing challenges in the power sector.
