The Executive Secretary of the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA), Dr Augustine Ezeka, has charged staff to intensify efforts to enrol more eligible residents in the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) programme.

Ezeka gave the charge on Aug. 10 at a general staff meeting held at the agency’s headquarters in Awka.

He urged the staff to demonstrate greater commitment and diligence in the discharge of their duties, particularly in sensitising eligible residents and ensuring that more vulnerable persons benefit from the programme.

The executive secretary called for innovative approaches to reaching vulnerable groups across the state, including residents of motherless babies’ homes, mental health facilities and homes for the aged.

He urged the staff to identify practical ways of taking health insurance information and enrolment opportunities closer to people who might face difficulties accessing them.

Ezeka also charged the Call Centre Unit to remain professional and responsive in handling enquiries and complaints from enrollees.

He advised the unit to promptly refer complaints, requests and other issues beyond its capacity to the appropriate personnel or departments for proper attention and resolution.
