The Vice Chairman Anambra State branch of the Nigerian Medical Association Prof. Osita Umeononihu is celebrating Anambra’s developmental giant strides since its creation on August 27, 1991.
Comparatively with states created alongside with it such as Delta, Abia, Akwa Ibom, Enugu, Ebonyi among others, he disclosed that the state has recorded appreciable progress in all sectors of the economy.
The medical expert gave the indication in a congratulatory message to the state ahead of the celebration of its 35 years of existence on August 27.
According to Prof. Umeononihu a gynae Oncologist Obstetrician, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching hospital Nnewi, the success recorded at the health sector is noteworthy with the unprecedented free ante natal, free caesarian sessions for women at the state public hospitals, renovation and building of new general hospitals in the state, upgrading of facilities at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu teaching hospital Awka, among other health reforms.
On the education sector, the Vice Chairman said that the state government has injected new teachers in the school system with the employment of 6,115 teachers covering both primary and secondary school categories, making education free at the primary and secondary school levels, enlisting some schools as smart making the Community Secondary School Amichi one of the 22 smart schools in Anambra State, recorded successes at the WAEC and JAMB examinations among other noteworthy successes.
Infrastructurally, Prof. Umeononihu acknowledged the giant strides made by the state in the springing up of structures in all the 3 senatorial zones of the state.
Besides, he noted with delight, a great improvement in the security sector with the Police and the “Agunaechemba’ security outfit making exploits and minimizing crimes and Criminalities to the barest minimum.
According to him, Anambra State which is on the match to prosperity, metamorphosed from the military regime to a civilian dispensation with its smooth transition from civilian to civilian administrations smooth.
He made particular reference to the Dr. Chris Ngige era for giving Anambra quality roads, the Peter Obi administration for consolidating on the road network, handing over some schools to the mission,etc, the Obiano administration for giving the state an International Cargo airport, International Convention Centre, etc, and the Soludo administration for providing a funcity the best of its kind in the southeast geo political zone, a strong security network, standard road network, infrastructural development the best when compared with his predecessors in office, among other reforms.
Prof. Umeononihu asked the state residents to give the Soludo administration their unalloyed support to move the state to greater heights.
