Teachers across Anambra State on Aug. 25, participated in the eight-day Solution Teachers Digital Skills Training, gaining practical experience in the use of technology to enhance teaching and learning.
The training, organised in collaboration with the Friday Esther Development Initiatives Foundation (FEDIF), is designed to equip teachers with essential digital skills, including basic ICT and word processing, the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence, Google Workspace for Education, digital classroom tools and e-learning platforms.
At training centres in Awka, Nsugbe and Onitsha, including Kachukwu Ventures CBT Centre, Nwafor Orizu Nsugbe ICT Centre and Holy Trinity Onitsha CBT Centre, participants engaged in hands-on exercises, worked with computers and interacted with facilitators throughout the sessions.
The practical approach generated enthusiasm among the teachers, many of whom welcomed the opportunity to strengthen their confidence in using digital tools in the classroom.
The Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ekene Ogugua, expressed satisfaction with the turnout, describing teachers’ participation as encouraging.
He emphasised that teachers must remain at the centre of the state’s digital transformation, saying, “We cannot go digital without the teachers.”
Dr. Ogugua noted that equipping teachers with relevant digital competencies would help ensure the effective integration of technology into teaching and learning.
For the participants, the training represents an opportunity to acquire practical skills that can improve classroom delivery and introduce new approaches to engaging learners.
The initiative forms part of the state’s broader effort to prepare teachers for the evolving education landscape and strengthen their capacity to teach effectively in an increasingly digital environment.
