The Commissioner, Anambra State Ministry of Health, Dr Afam Obidike has cautioned opposition parties against spreading false narratives as regarding the State healthcare sector ahead of the November 8 Gubernatorial elections in the State.

This comes after misleading informations propagated by oppositions on the newly commissioned Anaku General Hospital in Ayamelum Local Government Area (LGA).

Commissioner Obidike debunking the false narratives urged people of the area and State at large not to be derailed and misled by false informations/narratives as reforms of the administration of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo in the State Healthcare sector was evident to all.

He reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to improving and providing adequate healthcare services delivery that is affordable and assessable across all levels of the State.

“The General hospitals and Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) built/revitalised and commissioned across the State by the Soludo administration are all functional and open to use for indigenes and all residents of Anambra,” he noted.

Dr Obidike explained that aside the free antenatal care and delivery services in government health facilities enjoyed by all in the State since 2023, Governor Soludo has made huge reforms and improvements in the State Healthcare sector since inception into office.

“All sectors of the State’s health system to include the State Ministry of Health, Primary Healthcare Agency, Health Insurance Agency, and State Hospital Management Board has felt the impact of the present administration.

“These has been seen in the health sector human capital and structural development, the building of General hospitals across board, refurbishment of PHCs, morden medical equipment in health facilities across the State, introduction of telemedicine, and continuous capacity building of health workers to enhance productivity within the system,” he added.

The Commissioner, however, urged actors against malicious intents with the healthcare system to retrace their steps.

“Health is a priority of the Soludo’s administration and people should not be discouraged from accessing affordable and adequate care in government health facilities and from trained healthcare personnel, especially when it is needed.”
